Preconditioning Eigenvalues and Some Comparison of Solvers
نویسنده
چکیده
Preconditioning techniques are discussed for symmetric eigenvalue problems. The methods Davidson, Jacobi-Davidson, Rayleigh quotient iteration, and preconditioned Lanczos are considered. Some relationships are given between these different approaches, and some experimental comparisons are done. Jacobi-Davidson appears to be efficient in both expense and storage. A hybrid method may be helpful for the case of a poor initial vector. short running title: Preconditioning Eigenvalues

Eigenanalysis of some preconditioned Helmholtz problems
In this work we calculate the eigenvalues obtained by preconditioning the discrete Helmholtz operator with Sommerfeld-like boundary conditions on a rectilinear domain, by a related operator with boundary conditions that permit the use of fast solvers. The main innovation is that the eigenvalues for two and three-dimensional domains can be calculated exactly by solving a set of one-dimensional e...

متن کاملIterative Solution of Dense Linear Systems
Integral equation methods have been used with great success in electromagnetic scattering calculations and in other problems involving unbounded computational domains. Their application is in many cases limited by the storage requirements of dense matrices and also by the rapidly increasing computational time. However, the use of iterative solvers and special methods for computing the matrix-ve...
متن کاملAIAA 2004–0763 Practical Implementation and Improvement of Preconditioning Methods for Explicit Multistage Flow Solvers
Preconditioning methods can help explicit multistage multigrid flow solvers to achieve fast and accurate convergence for a wide range of Mach numbers including incompress-ible flows. The implementation of preconditioning methods and the corresponding matrix dissipation terms in existing flow solvers is a challenging task if good convergence rates are to be obtained. This task can be made more c...
متن کاملViscous Models Comparison in Water Impact of Twin 2D Falling Wedges Simulation by Different Numerical Solvers
In this paper, symmetric water entry of twin wedges is investigated for deadrise angle of 30 degree. Three numerical simulation of a symmetric impact, considering rigid body dynamic equations of motion in two-phase flow is presented. The two-phase flow around the wedges is solved by Finite Element based on Finite Volume method (FEM-FVM) which is used in conjunction with Volume of Fluid (VOF) sc...
